Conversations about building sustainable and inclusive communities
This report, commissioned by the Trust, from John O'Brien and David Towell at the Centre for Inclusive Futures links the Trust's interests over the last decade in disability equality to its current work on building more resilient communities. It takes you through a series of conversations, using the 'World Café' method to bring a cross-section of citizens together locally to explore what constitutes 'a good community' in ways which include, among others, disabled and older people, as valued contributors to local problem-solving. To achieve more sustainable and inclusive communities there needs to be a shift in the relationship between the public sector and citizens, with citizens no longer passive and isolated consumers but as active collaborators under the co-production model.
