Programmes
The Barrow Cadbury Trust promotes social justice through grant-making, research, influencing public policy and supporting local communities. Our work is divided into three programme areas:
Criminal Justice
The Criminal Justice Programme aims to support people who are within, or at risk of entering, the criminal justice system, and to improve their life chances – with a particular focus on young adults. The Trust funds grassroots projects as well as policy and research. The Trust’s current Criminal Justice programme work includes: the Transition to Adulthood (T2A) Alliance; and Grassroots projects primarily in the West Midlands, including a focus on supporting women and girls;.
Migration & Europe
The Migration and Europe programme aims to help ensure that migration is managed in an equitable and socially just manner. The Trust seeks to enable grassroots groups to support the most vulnerable groups of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. In particular, it supports work that strives to include migrants in the debate about issues affecting their lives. The Trust also works in partnership with think-tanks, policy-makers, academics and campaigners on research and policy work. One important current priority is to help generate a more constructive, evidence-based public and policy debate on migration and integration.
Poverty & Inclusion
The Poverty and Inclusion Programme aims to find solutions to poverty, inequality and social exclusion. The Trust’s current work under this programme includes research or policy development work relating to increasing financial inclusion and strengthening communities; and grassroots projects that show how the underlying causes of poverty and exclusion can be tackled and how communities can be strengthened.
